The artist started this creation when he was struck by the beauty of a complex border of a traditional Mamluk design. Through thoughtful manipulation he altered and repeated the border, then introduced a plethora of colors in a most unusual way. The field colors and design colors are constantly trading places, as if performing a perfectly choreographed dance. This extraordinary use of lively shade placement is distributed in a precise, yet whimsical way, creating a truly transitional presentation. Woven in 100% silk.
